Pi Day

So, March 14th is Pi Day. Being a nerdy math teacher, I of course love Pi Day. Pi Day always occurs during Spring Break, but this year 2 of my fellow teachers and I decided we were celebrating. We made great shirts,

served pie to our students,

and played Mono-pi-ly (all questions were about circles).

It was a great way to end the week before Spring Break. Plus, my cousin Melissa and her new husband Chris will always get to celebrate Pi Day as their anniversary. They were married on Saturday, March 14, 2009. Sadly, they did not serve pie at their reception.

I'm back

I've not blogged in 6 months, so I'm committing to post more often. So check back soon for a glimpse into my life.

I hate shopping

So, I've always hated bra shopping. Being so large, finding a bra has always been a challenge. I've always gone to a store that is know for having all band and cup sizes. Usually, there is only one bra that fits in the entire store.

Today, I finally decides to buy my first bra since my reduction. I didn't know my exact size, so I figured I'd go back to this store. You get your own personal fitter who will bring you bra, after bra, after bra. I thought that since I've removed 8 pounds of breast tissue, finding a bra would be easier. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! My bra buying experience was traumatic. After an hour of trying on bra, I finally settled on one. ONLY - it's been discontinued by the manufacturer. Just my luck. I don't love this bra, but to know that I will not be able to get more - SUCKS! I bought the one they had in nude. I came home, and of course called my mom crying about my experience. I hunted the internet hoping to find a company that still had the bra in stock. No luck. I finally found a new one on ebay for half the cost. I bought it. It is weird to purchase a bra on ebay, but a girl's got to do what a girl's go to do. I still have to find a white on for the temple.

I HATE BRA SHOPPING, but I've attached a picture of my new bra below.

American Teen

I just go home from a sneek preview of the new documentary American Teen. WOW!!! Sadly, it is so accurate of what teens are facing today. The internet bullying, the peer pressure, the depression, the awkwardness... so true. I think every teacher needs to see this movie before school starts again. It broke my heart at times and made me laugh at other times. I think being a teacher gives me a very different perspective on what teens are facing. I'm sure many of the people there had no clue how brutal school can be for the "unpopular" crowd. EYE OPENING!!!!

I can't sleep.

I'm having one of those nights were sleep is just eluding me. I think it was all the diet coke I had tonight. I really have limited my soda intake, but today I was being social. I made one of my few public appearances since my surgery. It is still very awkward and strange to have people staring at my boobs. Though, now there are not staring because they are so large. People are staring because they know I had surgery. I do feel like I'm the new spokesperson for breast reductions. I was asked so many personal questions tonight, but I know people aren't trying to be nosy. They are just curious. I'm definitely not as shy about speaking about my experience so far.

So, I found out today that I make a small appearance in my first youtube clip. And I mean SMALL appearance. Every year I judge the regional competition for Destination Imagination. Last year I was asked to come to Dallas to help judge the state level competition. I was asked to judge again this year at the state level. Sadly, it was here in Austin, so no fun hotel. Anyway, the UT Dallas team, the only university level team competing, posted their performance on youtube. If you look closely around 25 seconds in you get a shot of all the appraisers. I'm the goofy one in the princess hat. I also reappear around 3:04 in to the performance. I'm standing on the right edge of the performance area. Here's the link if you are interested:

I've Given In!

So, I have caved to peer pressure. I've entered the world of blogging.
